Test hammers are used to determine the surface hardness of concrete and are one of the most widely used instruments in the field of non destructive testing (NDT) of concrete compressive strength. It is the quickest, simplest and least expensive method to obtain an estimate of the quality and strength of the concrete.

Elcometer 181 Mechanical Concrete Test Hammer

This simple to use gauge consists of a spring loaded plunger which, when released, strikes the surface with fixed and constant impact energy.
 

Elcometer 182 Digital Concrete Test Hammer

The digital and more advanced version, is equipped with an electronic transducer which converts the rebound values into a reading on the digital display. It displays a range of statistics and there is a facility to download to a PC.
