Elcometer 134W Chloride Ion Detection Kit for Water/Liquids

Need 1: Water Blasting

As high-pressure water blasting becomes more popular, everyday environmental regulations surrounding disposal of waste water are tightening. Water blasting is an ideal method for removing coatings back down to the bare substrate, without losing the original profile.

Due to environmental and other operational reasons, the water is filtered - to remove the paint particles - and then re-used. However, chloride ions are soluble in the blast water and it is important that these ions in the water do not get too concentrated and begin to put chloride ions onto the surface you are cleaning.

Need 2: Monitoring the Cleaning Process

When washing down the surface, it is important to monitor the effectiveness of the cleaning process. By simply recording the chloride level of the water before the job commences and monitoring the level throughout the cleaning process, the contractor can establish the effectiveness of the salt removal and decide if a cleaning agent is required.

Easy Operation

The Elcometer 134W uses a similar test method to the 134 Surface and the 134 Abrasive test that is, using the titration tube.

  1. Using the pipette bottle, remove sufficient water under test and squeeze into the bottle (about 2-3 pipettes full).
  2. Insert the titration tube into the solution and read the result.
